Our Cooperative Story…

DunRoamin’s story is as rich and unique as its setting. Originally a farm, the property was opened to visitors by the Maclean family after acquiring the property in 1945, eventually offering both campsites and cottages. For decades, it became a beloved summer retreat for generations of families. When the descendants decided it was time to retire, the campground was initially set for a traditional sale. But in a truly nontraditional move, the campers of the 2024 season came together with a shared vision: to purchase and preserve DunRoamin as a cooperative for future generations. After much hard work and perseverance, they succeeded in securing the campground’s future as a community-owned retreat. As we officially start the 2025 season, we want to thank Ed Maclean and Janet Richards for years of summer fun and look forward to continuing the tradition of honoring DunRoamin as a natural sanctuary- a place where our community can thrive for years to come.
